About Oqult — AI and quantum computing consultancy

Engineers and physicists who would rather lose the work than oversell it. Here is who we are and how we think about both fields.

What Oqult is

A consultancy with two practices: artificial intelligence, which is where most of our work is and where most organizations should be spending their attention, and quantum computing, which is earlier-stage and matters to far fewer organizations today. We are based in the United States and work with clients globally.

We are launching in 2026. Everything on this site is written by the people who do the work.

Why the firm exists

Both fields have an unusually wide gap between what is claimed and what is true. In AI, the gap shows up as pilots funded on a demo that nobody measured, and as tooling bought before anyone worked out what it was for. In quantum computing it shows up as benchmarks against weak classical baselines and roadmaps read as delivery dates.

Both have the same fix: someone who will build the honest comparison first, and who is willing to tell you the answer is a spreadsheet, an off-the-shelf product, or nothing at all.

How we work

Baseline first — a result that has not been compared with the sensible alternative is not a result. Estimate before building. Measure what ships. Hand over code rather than screenshots. Our services page sets out the sequence, and what each stage costs in time.

The team

Our founders come from university quantum labs — condensed matter physics, quantum information theory, quantum optics — and from leading AI teams at technology companies and deep-tech startups. Academic rigor with engineering pragmatism: people who have published, and who have shipped production systems and built teams.

We are assembling the founding team now across applied machine learning, data engineering, quantum algorithms and error mitigation. There are no formally advertised roles yet — the first ones will be written out of the conversations we are having now. If that is you, send us something you have built, written or proved.

One cultural commitment worth stating, because it is the one that costs something: we say no to clients when the evidence says no.

Get in touch

Whether you are asking the question for the first time or ready to build something, we would like to hear the problem in your own words. Send us an enquiry — it reaches the people who do the work.
